Minor singles: One match in the Minor Singles saw Viv Russell claim a game to 25 victory over Alf Davies. The score was 17 all on the 21st end. On the 30th end Viv just needed one more shot to win the match but determined Alf picked up another six shots over the next three ends. Finally Viv picked up the one shot he needed to take the match. Well played gents.

Wednesday at one: In a game of triples the Wednesday before Alf Davies, Col Breaden and Bill O’Connell won by 14:11 against the strong competition Cliff Nelson, Trevor Curry and Jim Maloy. Barry Shine and Denis Byrnes had a nice little 18:10 victory against John Allegri and Fred Vogelsang. Kerry Dunstan and Bill Looney claimed a 24:15 win from Peter Greenhalgh and Mel Sinclair. Scott McKellar was resting on his laurels as his partner Rodney Wood, visiting from Brisbane, played some fine shots to take a victory from Ernie Egan and Ray Sanderson. Then there was the Grandad and Grandson match. Ray and Lachlan Dunstan easily accounted for Rob and Jack Priest. We all had an afternoon of fun.
Then last Wednesday we had Mel Sinclair, Jim Maloy and Brian Tisdell with a good win over Peter Greenhalgh, Col Breaden and Barry Wright. Mel is in the winner’s circle now. Trevor Curry and Alf Davies picked up a win from Bill O’Connell and Sid Morris. Ray Sanderson and Fred Vogelsang had a win over Rob Priest and Gunna Williams. Ray was the man of the match. John Allegri and Barry White scored a victory from John Gorton and Peter Mackay. John Cutler and Tony Bratton defeated Denis Byrnes and Scott McKellar. Well done gents.
Thursday afternoon: On Thursday last we had 16 players and some close matches. Clive Herbert and Al Phillips finished just one, 20:19, in front of Ernie Egan and Viv Russell. Grant Lambert and Darryl Griffiths picked up a 24:18 win over Ian MacCallum and Graham West. Allan Affleck and Lyall Strudwick won by 26:17 from Ron Symons and Geoff Williams. Cliff Nelson and Scott McKellar won their match by 31:19 against Bobby Grant and Tony Bratton. So it’s all on again next Thursday arvo.
From the committee: Club AGM and Men’s committee AGM have been postponed. Nominate yourself or another member as all positions are vacant.
The Ben Hall Pairs are on August 26 and 27. We have plenty of teams from other clubs chasing the $5,000 prize money, nominate now.
Membership is now overdue. You must be paid up to play championship events.
