A report to Council’s September meeting said “amazing” was highly visual, bold and eye-catching.
“The goal of the project is to rebrand Forbes as a destination attractive for visitation and to foster community pride,” the tourism development officer’s report to Council said.
“The rebrand will focus on what makes Forbes unique – the amazing sculpture – and design creative assets to market Forbes as a place to stay, visit and invest.”
“Amazing”’s strengths were listed as promoting a great asset in the Somewhere Down the Lachlan sculpture trail and having a strong social media presence.
The report said that the rebranding was budgeted for in Council’s 2017-18 operational plan and the return on investment would be based on economic growth and visitor numbers.
Council also plans to develop merchandise aligned with branding to generate income.
Councillors at their September meeting resolved to adopt the “amazing” corporate guidelines and support the rebrand.
Cr Chau asked that councillors also receive a budget for the campaign.
The amazing sculpture was largely built by community members: government funding was received for the steel, local businesses cut the letters out and powdercoated them, they were welded together by local volunteers.
The project’s patron is NSW Governor the Honourable General David Hurley.
