To our supporters, along with the garden owners, we thank you for making our day a success which in turn helps the charitable organisations.
The eight gardens were very different and gave all viewers some ideas for their own gardens.
Our club is indebted to the garden owners as they are community members who generously present their gardens for others to enjoy and their charitable organisation to receive funds.
Visitors’ comments were all good, Forbes North School veggie section was presented in fine form, they have won many of our vegetable sections at the Spring Flower Show.
Clarke’s cottage garden was filled with many ideas shown with much finnesse. Muffet’s permaculture garden created lots of interest. Green’s large country native garden interested country people due to the scale, native selection, hedges, plus sculptures.
Around the South Lead Road to welcome new owners, Landers, to see a native folly, as well as an easy maintained country garden. Mary Hamilton had a garden with changes due to topiaries and hedges, and a tree that died. Easily maintained gardens are a viewer’s delight.
The last two around the corner from one another, with Prince’s a green garden, good lawns and edges with Buxus hedges easy care for busy people.
Over time gardens change from year to year, along with flowerings of trees, roses and perennials, depending on the weather, no garden stays the same.
Kupkee’s was the large town garden, the front was planted about five years ago and trees are now 4-5m high plus growth in shrubs and groundcovers, the back has two year’s growth.
Forbes garden enthusiasts enjoyed the day along with visitors coming from Bega, Bogan Gate, Budina, Burcher, Canowindra, Coffs Harbour, Cowra, Daroobalgie, Eugowra, Lake Macquarie. Melbourne, Mittagong, Moorlie, Mudgee, Nyngan, Orange, Parkes, Pymble, Sunshine Coast, Sydney, Tenunda SA, Yenda, Yeoval and Young.
To all who helped in any way, including my daughter Lisa and granddaughter Kaitlyn, a huge thankyou, as without you it is almost impossible to organise, the effort from all made it a great success.
This is the first year we have held the Open Gardens one day only, a top effort. Open Gardens in 2016 were cancelled due to big rains, a lot of water and sodden lawns.
