The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting a high of 35 degrees on Saturday afternoon, with a breeze in the morning becoming light in the afternoon.
Don’t forget your hat, sunnies and sunscreen, the UV index is predicted to be extreme through to 5pm.
How do I get there?
You can drive, it’s 32km out of Forbes – straight out the Bedgerabong Road. Gates open 10am but the first race is at 1.40pm.
But if you’re planning on enjoying the hospitality, you might like to catch the bus.
Buses leave Forbes Town Hall between midday and 2pm.
They return to Forbes between 7pm and 10.30pm. It costs $7 each way.
Fashions and fun
Bedgerabong Picnic Races is great day out for the family with entertainment including foot races on the straight after the last race.
In addition to a hot six-race program on track, off-track action includes the Fashions on the Field, registration and judging starts after Race 2 – listen for announcements on the day.
Winners will be announced on track after Race 4.
There are once again great prizes for winners including a Myer gift pack, Julie Herbert Millinery voucher as well as vouchers from Allure on Main, Little Extras, Undercover Sleepwear and Lingerie, Cahill’s Footwear and Nikki May’s.
The categories are Bedgerabong’s Queen, Bedgerabong’s King, Bedgerabong’s Princess (Girls 9-17 years), Bedgerabong’s Prince (Boys 9-17 years), Bedgerabong Junior (Boys & Girls 8 & Under) and Best Bedgerabong Headwear (Open).
Live band, The Works, takes the stages after the races finish. The annual auction of the President’s Tie and Picnic Races shirts is on again.
What should I bring?
The picnic race day is strictly no BYO alcohol or glass.
Drinks are available on site, with a bar with a drink ticket system operating for quick service.
Food is also available, caterers coming for the event include takeaways, barbecue, coffee and ice cream.
Please note, there are no ATM or EFTPOS facilities available at Bedgerabong.
Entry at the gate is $15 for adults, children under 15 years free. Race books $5.
There will be TAB Van, local and metropolitan bookmakers available on course.
