This week at the Central West Livestock Exchange

There were some good lines of well finished and grain assisted pens offered along with the plainer and secondary lines. The usual buyers were present and competing in a cheaper market.

Yearling steers eased 6c to 10c/kg. Middle weight to feed sold from 265c to 310c with heavy weights from 245c to 303c/kg.

Those to processors sold from 250c to 290c/kg. The heifer portion was also 6c to 9c/kg cheaper. Processors paid from 240c to 275c for middle and heavy weights. Those to feed received from 244c to 261c/kg.

Lamb numbers increased at Tuesday’s sheep and lamb sale and quality was good across the heavy weights which were well presented while the lighter lambs tended to lack finish throughout.

There were mainly heavy weights penned along with a reasonable run of trades and stores were well supplied. All the buyers were present and operating and competition was sound resulting in a generally firm market.

Light lambs to the processors averaged $116 down $1 while store lambs held firm and averaged from $103 to $128/head.

Medium and heavy trade weights were also firm and averaged 595c to 620c/kg cwt with most of the heavy trade weight lambs selling from $145 to $155/head.

Heavy weight lambs were firm and averaged from 600c to 630c/kg cwt with the extra heavy weights selling from $173 to a top of $214/head.
