Forbes High School would like to invite community members to attend the second session of TOO on Thursday June 7. It is free of charge and commences at 2pm in the school hall. Community members must be over the age of 17 years and are asked to sign in at the front office 15minutes prior to the commencement of the performance. The production runs for 45min, with a Q&A to follow afterwards.
"Creating and sharing connections with our community is important to us at Forbes High School", said Principal Ms Bristina.
TOO is a physical theatre, dance and verbatim theatre performance. It delves into the questions of how do you perceive yourself and how do others perceive you? TOO explores self-image, and body image, through individuals, others and society using real stories from real people.
The interaction between the performers is subtle, authentic and scenes of hope, sadness, guilt, joy, and pride arise as the performers investigate the depths of society and ourselves that no one wants to talk about.
An important message told with passion creates a space of self-reflection and observation for the audience to spectate retrospectively. The performance contains abstract physical theatre, circus, and contemporary dance and has raw emotional power, due to how the whole performance is personal, intimate and relatable.
Forbes High School drama teacher, Miss Limbert said "it’s important for Drama and English students at the school to engage with and view a variety of theatre productions. Thanks to Charles Stuart University, our students have an opportunity to extend their understanding of the theatre and learn about the different elements of drama."
