The garden has produced plenty of pumpkins, and Class 1 / 2A is making pumpkin soup and soda bread.
It’s part of the school’s kitchen garden program, which brings children into the kitchen to make meals from the produce they have grown.
While some of the preparation has been done for this younger age group, they’re soon busy measuring out ingredients and kneading the dough to make bread.
Mrs Mary Fox and volunteers helped the kids with safe practice such as washing your hands and watch the oven and the result was a kitchen full of very happy and excited kids to make their own food.
The kitchen garden program has been running at Forbes north for 10 years encouraging the students to grow and produce their own food and to also encourage healthy eating.
