Chairman of judges Jeff Byrne said the judges were pleased with the quality of wines entered in this year’s show.
Mr Byrne said the 2017 shiraz and 2017 chardonnay were strong classes in the show, while the sparkling and riesling classes provided a good surprise.
The judges also awarded 67 silver medals, 155 bronze medals and 19 trophies.
The show’s best white wine was the Thomas Wines 2013 Cellar Reserve Braemore Semillon. The show’s best red wine was the Ballinaclash 2017 Thomas Cabernet Sauvignon.
Forbes wine-lovers can come along to the public tasting at the Forbes Youth and Community Centre on Friday, August 31 from 6.30-8.30pm. Entry is $25 and includes finger food.
The show’s top wines will feature at the presentation dinner on Saturday, September 15. Tickets for the five course dinner with matched trophy wines are on sale at BWR Accountants for $110.
