Ten skilled volunteers from NSW Mobile Mission Maintenance tackled a couple of sizeable building projects at the emergency accommodation provider, which is run by a committee of people from local churches and the community.
The MMM team divided large rooms both upstairs and downstairs in the iconic building in Browne Street.
This makes a total of 10 bedrooms available now and allows for the installation of an accessible bathroom.
“It’s absolutely fantastic,” Havannah House’s David Virtue said.
The Havannah House committee is extremely appreciative of the extraordinary amount of work achieved by the MMM team over the two-week period they were in Forbes.
And it’s just the sort of satisfying work that the MMM volunteers, who are predominantly retirees from all over the state, love to do.
Volunteers include electricians, carpenters and plumbers, others pick up the skills they need along the way.
Phill and Gwen Hall have been giving their time and skills to MMM projects for about 11 years now, and have travelled all over NSW, the Northern Territory and Western Australia.
“I have learned so much,” Gwen said.
The Havannah House team is also turning their attention to support farmers, with a fundraising trivia night and silent auction.
