On Friday, he was called to a Caragabal home to remove an eastern brown snake from under a bed.
Spring is breeding season for snakes, and the time of year they are most active.
For locals, that’s no surprise, but it is a timely reminder to keep your eyes open.
And if you do see a snake, don’t try to catch it yourself and definitely don’t try to kill it, Mr Newcombe says. That’s how the majority of bites happen.
You can call the snake catcher on 0424522608, and keep an eye on where the snake goes.
If it is in your home, close the door on the room and block the gap under the door with a towel.
It’s also important to know your snake bite first aid, and have a snake bandage available, Mr Newcombe added.
If you do get bitten, bandage the limb firmly, immediately.
