In an effort to make our daily cuppa the perfect pick-me-up while combining with taste and style we take a look at what has been popular and is still on-trend.
New twists to old favourites, such as the traditional Americano are adding an extra dimension to the many choices we enjoy.
More and more local cafes are taking the time to roast their own coffee or source roasted beans from local producers or roasters.
Teenagers and young adults are socialising over coffee after school or work while businesses enjoy a bulk order delivered from their favourite local cafe.
Pour over coffee is still on trend and is made by gently pouring hot water over the ground coarse coffee grains sitting in a paper filter. The subtle light brew is chilled and ready to serve alone or in espresso cold drinks and iced lattes.

Deconstructed coffee is showing up in the more hipster areas with three separate glasses served containing espresso, water, and milk served to clients, who then choose their own ratio of coffee:water:milk.
Nitro coffee was a new trend in cold coffee in 2017. It is now one of the regular requests on a barista’s menu. 500 litres are brewed at a time, then the coffee is filtered before being charged with nitro. This causes the bubbles to be significantly enhanced. The finished coffee is then poured into kegs and is ready to be served over ice.
Cafes and consumers are ordering a significant amount of green coffee beans, ensuring the coffee beans are grown on a sustainable farm. As a result, more people are switching from instant coffee to local, gourmet fresh coffee.
Caramel is a common request in customer cafe coffee orders and of course there are several choices of milk available, from almond to soy and even rice milk.
All of this is good news for lovers of the coffee bean and means we have a great deal more choice when we need our caffeine shot.
