Forbes High School’s Beef Bonanza success

Students prepared and paraded five school steers at the Bonanza, the final show for 2018.

Ashton the Limousin steer provided by Richard and Heather Cole placed first in his heat in the carcase competition.

Nugget, supplied by Mt Pleasant Limousin stud, placed highly commended in a very strong heavy weight led steer class and Fred the Angus cross steer donated by Fred Vella placed fourth in his class.

Teacher Rachel Eagles described this as a fantastic result with 340 led steer entries.

In the parader’s competition Louise Herford placed first, Kyle Bolam third, Chloe Kemp third, Emily Molloy fourth and Jasmine Casey fifth in their parading heats.

This was an amazing effort, with 900 students competing.

Forbes High School’s William Cox put his hand up for the junior judging competition, and placed fourth in the Under 16’s.

The interactive judging on the Saturday evening was lots of fun, Jack Cole, Kyle Bolam, Chloe Kemp and Eliza Fahey winning the night overall.

The students’ effort and conduct over the weekend away was described as a credit to themselves and the school.

The Show Team thanks the following people for their donation of feed and animals for students to show: Dustin and Bec Kemp, Fred Vella, Sherrie and Luke Whitty, Richard and Heather Cole, Krystelle and Keith Ridley, Kim Brien, Dennis, Gale, Greg and Nadine Moxey for the use of your stud cattle and steers and John and Belinda Cole, Dustin Kemp and Advanced Animal Nutrition for their generous donations of feed and supplements.

They would also like to thank Terry Apps for his tireless work down on the farm with the feeding and care of our school animals.

Finally, the teaching team would like to thank the students who make the show team a wonderful aspect of the school community and represent Forbes High School with pride.
