Children enjoyed the chance to visit with Santa, then switched on their glow candles and glow sticks to set the park a-sparkle after dark while the Town Band and special guests led the carols.
Town Band President Sue-anne Nixon has expressed her delight in this letter to the editor, which just about sums it all up!

Through your pages I would like to sincerely thank and congratulate the chairperson of the Forbes Carols Committee Mrs Jenelle Toole for co-ordinating the staging of (Saturday) night's carols by Candlelight in Victoria Park. What a wonderful job Jenelle and her team did.
Last night I was reminded that it was Forbes's 49th carols. A wonderful community event last night and it was one of the most memorable.
Staging the event on a Saturday night for the first time was a positive plan with families able to sleep in the next day.
Victoria Park was a vision of sparkling lights. Judy Prior our amazing MC for the night mentioned at one stage that we looked far better than anything that could be seen twinkling at the Myer Music Bowl! Thank you Judy for doing such a great job as our jovial MC.
Nick Taylor organised the sound crew. The best sound ever. Thankyou Nic.
I would like to formally thank the Forbes Shire Council for their support of this community event.
Sarah Williams and her small events team left no stone unturned in order that the event was set up with all the equipment ,staging and screens needed for an event of this size.
Josh Barnard a new member of the carols committee designed and presented all of the words on the big screen for people to sing along to. Thank you Josh.
The Forbes Lion's club had to top up their supplies for the BBQ during the night. Their busiest carols night ever they said.
A warm night saw queues at the Cold Rock icecream stand reflecting the public's support of this new idea for carols.
Thankyou to all of the wonderful guest artists without whom the evening would not have been so enjoyable.
Their ability to entertain was there for all to see and such variety was on display.
Thank you to the Mainly Music team, who provided a craft activity for the little ones.
Santa brought along a couch made of hay big enough for a whole family to sit on and convey their wishes. You had a very busy night Santa thank you for visiting Forbes last night.

Most of all I would like to sincerely thank the people of Forbes for their participation in the 2018 carols.
Victoria Park was flowing over with families spending time together, singing and enjoying the entertainment and the music from the wonderful guest artists and Forbes Town Band.
Every event can be improved upon and I am really looking forward to the staging of our town's 50th carols by candlelight in 2019.
