Not only have the veggie patches and flower beds been growing, now the heat has backed off, they've hosted a couple of very special events.
Dozens of enthusiasts signed up for their Mother's Day weekend market: in the cold, chilly conditions there was a hot cuppa and barbecue.
About 30 people signed up to make a kokedama - essentially a pot-free hanging plant in moss bound by string or hessian.
Gardening Australia's Sophie Thomson also made time to visit the gardens while she was in Forbes - it's something she does everywhere she travels.
She was delighted with the local patch, particularly the availability of garden beds for people with limited mobility.
"Community gardens build vibrant, strong and resilient communities," Ms Thomson said.
"Numerous studies have shown how important they are."
Members of the community can become a "friend" of the gardens for $10, or rent a plot: it's $20 small bed, $30 a large bed.
Their other upcoming events are:
- July 6 - Super Soup Saturday with plenty of pumpkins.
- Sunday September 15 - A school holiday workshop for "dirtgirls and dirtboys".
- Saturday November 9 - the annual open day, scarecrow and vegetable garden competitions.
