Forbes Jockey Club has been named a finalist for two honours at the 2019 Country and Provincial Racing Awards to be announced Friday night.

The local club has been shortlisted as one of three finalists in the running for the Country Race Club of the Year (five or less meetings) and the Outstanding Achievement Award.
With the club's 2019 Spring meeting just a week away on October 12, secretary Harvey Elliott says the club is extremely humbled to be chosen as a finalist in both categories they nominated for.
Coonamble and Louth turf clubs are finalists in the club category.
"Both these clubs host excellent race meetings and Forbes Jockey Club holds both in high regard," Mr Elliott said.
The Jockey Club is also extremely proud of its nomination in the outstanding achievement category - the restoration of the heritage grandstand on course.
The re-opening of the grandstand occurred at the club's highly successful Spring race meeting on Everest Day in 2018.

The grandstand was well decked out with many patrons taking advantage of the refurbished structure.
There were contingents of the older generation who came to witness first-hand the work that had been done to restore 'the grand old dame' to its former glory.
The photos and images are featured beneath the grandstand in the cafeteria area and were well received and created much discussion.
Forbes Jockey Club president John Rennick, vice president Ray Nicholson and secretary Harvey Elliott will represent the club at the NSW Country Racing Club Managers Conference on Friday, and attend the awards with representatives of two major sponsors Bankstown Sports Club and the City of Sydney RSL Club.
The celebrations are being held in the Grand Ballroom of the Four Seasons Hotel to acknowledge the accomplishments of thoroughbred racing throughout Country and Provincial NSW.
The conference will be opened by Peter V'landys AM Chief Executive Officer for Racing NSW and more recently appointed to replace Peter Beattie as Australian Rugby League Commission Chairman.
A very interesting speaker who is responsible for placing NSW Racing into the international spotlight with his foresight to increase prize money for NSW racing and the introduction of the Everest.
It has been acknowledged that the decisions made have had an overall flow on to all areas of thoroughbred racing and breeding throughout the Country.
Thoroughbred racing has been part of Forbes for more than 150 years and the Forbes Jockey Club Inc. has benefitted from good administration of Racing NSW Country and the work of the local committee.
