Opposed to a very good field in the $35,000 Keady Family Crystal Sprint over 1200 metres, Molasses with Grant Buckley in the saddle, settled back in the field before coming with a sharp sprint to beat the leader Kenny Succeed (Jake Pracey-Holmes, $8.50) by a half length with Good Time Charlie (Andrew Banks, $7.50) finishing third.
Now the winner of eight races and placed seven times from 33 starts, Molasses officially started at $10 however up to $26 was offered early.
Molasses had experience at the Coonamble track having won a Prelude to the Country Championship in 2018.
Meanwhile at Narromine last Saturday the Barry Molloy, Forbes trained Caszar came with a late rush to finish second in the feature event, the 1200 metres Dandy Cup.
Ridden by Greg Ryan, Caszar ($13) raced at the tail of the field before finishing fast to get within a long neck of the winner, the Luke Morgan, Tamworth trained General Scarlet ($4.20) ridden by apprentice Wendy Peel.
