The day went above and beyond what organisers expected and saw a constant roll-through of people.
"We even had Forbes Bicycle Club ride out that morning and stop in for a coffee," organiser Kellie Thomas said.
"I was able to chat to people who came to see the Tupperware cooking demonstration, who were from Sydney but read it in a local paper that the day was on and decided to come out and support our little town."
The original plan was to raise enough money to keep the Railway Arts and Craft Shop open for another year.

Kellie said the original plan was to raise enough money to keep the Railway Arts and Craft Shop open for another year.
"Well with the stall holders' donations, the Devonshire tea and the donation back from the amazing Parkes Action Club from their jumping castle sales, we raised enough to cover the rent on the shop for the next two years," she said.
President of the Arts and Craft Shop Katrina Theil was thrilled to say the least.
Peter Thomas and Anthony and Robert McIntire organised a wonderful display of tractors and vintage stationary engines, running the old baler for most of the day.
The amazing markets were organised by Keira Idiens who did a magnificent job with a fantastic variety of stalls for all ages.
"Our aim was to bring our tiny drought stricken community together, to put smiles on everyone's faces and just have a day where we could see just how great the town of Bogan Gate really is," Kellie said.
"We have been receiving such positive feedback for the event. So many people saying 'great work girls', but it really was a community effort.
"We couldn't have done it without Mick Williams allowing us to use his land, without Katrina and the ladies from the Arts and Craft Shop doing their part in the lead up to the event and in the kitchen on the day, and of course our kids' grandparents who had them for the day so we could run around organising to make sure the day went to plan.
"And it sure did go to plan! The fashion parade and country music helped make the day!"
Parkes Shire Council sponsored the event and Kellie said they are very thankful for the time and effort they put into the event.
The fire brigade ran out of food by lunch time as there were so many more people than they anticipated.
The event will return next year and will be held on Sunday, September 27.
"We will be sure to make it even better next year," Kellie said.
