The event was well attended by clubs from across western NSW, Canberra, Sydney and surrounding regions.
Early concerns about a lack of water in the lake were unnecessary as the event was held in beautiful conditions on the day, rain was expected but held off long enough for the event to be successfully completed.
All representative teams from the Lachlan Dragons paddled exceptionally well on the day with the women's, men's and mixed crews all successful in making the finals of their respective events.
We were very pleased to be able to team up with members of the Canberra Ice Dragons in a number of different events and it is wonderful to be able to forge a partnership with such a successful team.
In the end it came down to our champion women's crew to bring home the Gold in a hard fought campaign, just edging out the crews from Dubbo and Orange.
It was very pleasing to see two of our newest members at their first regatta come away with a gold medal, we are sure this will be the start of a long and enjoyable sporting journey for them both.
Both the men's and the mixed teams finished outside the medals on this occasion, probably due to a slight shortage of numbers in the finals, a couple of extra men in the club would make all the difference!
Dragon Boat racing and training is a very inclusive team sport for men and women of all ages and is a great way to improve your overall fitness and well being.
The Forbes Lachlan Dragons paddle on Thursday evenings (6pm) and Sunday mornings (8.30am) on Lake Forbes and would love to welcome prospective members to come along and join us for a paddle on our beautiful lake.
