The Wiradjuri Men's Shed was started by local Peter White, to help bring like minded people together and be inclusive within the community.
Mr White said the Wiradjuri Men's Shed has been six years in the making and urges everyone to come down to the meet and greet barbecue.
The Wiradjuri Men's Shed is located at 11 Ooma Street at Forbes, with the meet and greet starting at 12pm on March 6.
People interested in coming to the meet and greet barbecue are urged to RSVP by February 28 by contacting Peter White on 0477 639 640.
Membership to the Wiradjuri Men's Shed is open to all Aboriginal people over the age of 12 years.
Mr White said membership is open to non Indigenous people if they have skills that they can teach and share to help the shed grow.
The Wiradjuri Men's Shed will allow members to build or paint their own art, help build environmental pieces, help with the native nursery among other projects.
Among the first projects the Wiradjuri Men's Shed may work on are helping to create environmental assets such as bird and bat boxes.
Mr White said they another project the Wiradjuri Men's Shed may get invovled in is creating and decroating caskets with Indigenous artworks.
This project idea came up after speaking with members of the Coffin Club - a registered men's shed in Tasmania, Mr White said.
Along with the Wiradjuri Men's Shed, Mr White hopes to get members create connections with the Wiradjuri Cultural and Environmental Ranger Group.
Mr White said they are also looking for an electrician that can test an tag the equipment at the Wiradjuri Men's Shed.
Men's Sheds are community-based, non-profit, non-commercial organisations that are accessible to all men and whose primary activity is the provision of a safe and friendly environment where men are able to work on meaningful projects at their own pace in their own time. A major objective is to advance the well-being and health of their male members.
