A MOTORIST has had his licence suspended after allegedly speeding through a roadworks zone at Peak Hill.

At 6.36am on Thursday, May 14, Parkes Highway Patrol officers detected a white Toyota HiLux travelling at 116km/h in a sign posted 80km/h roadworks zone on the Newell Highway at Peak Hill.
The 36-year-old male driver was subsequently issued with an infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 30kmh.
The offence carries a fine of $920 and five demerit points.
Police said an inspection of the ute also found that items in the tray area of the vehicle had not been secured.
The motorist was then issued with an infringement notice for unsecured load. This offence has a fine of $457 and three demerit points.
In relation to his driver licence, the RMS will suspend his licence for a period of three months.
