New yard for Eugowra yard dog trials

A new Novice Trial Arena has been erected at the Eugowra Showground.

"It has been a long term dream and was finally was made possible by a grant from the Cabonne Council for the materials," organisers Kevin and Kay Howell, who have the highly successful Karana Kelpies, said.

Construction of the new yards took place over a weekend, with yard dog triallers gathering in Eugowra to build the new facility.

The trial yards are a busy place come the annual Show each year, Eugowra also hosted the NSW Utility Dog Championships in May last year.

The Howells expressed their thanks to all those who had helped bring the expansion to fruition.

"Thank you Sean Haynes for your expertise in submitting the application," the Howells said.

"A big thank you must go to Kevin Townsend for the use of his shed for him and Kevin Howell preparing the panels to be erected, which saved a great deal of time over the weekend."

They also thanked all those, locals and visiting trainers, who worked over the weekend and the support crew who kept them fed.

They're looking forward to meeting up at the next yard dog trial.

In another boost to Eugowra Show Society, a further $8,531 has been granted for further improvements to the Secretary's Office.

The funding will see the remodelling of the office and the installation of new storage systems, desks and work facilities.

Eugowra Show Society President Sean Haynes said that these improvement works will complement the funding previously received for new flooring in the Secretary's Office.

The Show Society has been granted a total of $53,585 in the Round 1 Showground Stimulus Funding announcements with other projects to be completed including the replacement of electrical supply points around the Showground, replacement of an existing roller door termite affected timberworks in the pavilion and the refurbishment of the Show Society Committee Room, Mr Haynes said.
