KMS were looking for revenge on the Bricklayers who defeated them in round three to earn their first victory of the year.
Despite being undermanned the Bricklayers went into the match full of confidence.
Confidence, however, can work in your favour or against you as the boys from KMS flew the gates to establish an early lead.
Super star Tim West lead from the front for KMS and despite the valiant efforts of the boys from the Bricklayers they were unable to bridge the gap in a high shooting but ultimately low scoring tussle as the KMS boys ran out victors 46-28 to take revenge on the Bricklayers from their round 3 meeting.
Tim West was given the ref's man of the match and was well supported by Kurt Davies and Jason Kennedy.
For the Bricklayers, their shots just didn't fall but they never gave up with Blair Thomas, Pat Tulaga and Trent Tyne posting solid efforts.
The second game featured two of our top teams in the Misfits and Cespitorians.
Misfits got the cash the last time these two sides met but the Cespitorians are an experienced team, and were up for the challenge.
Steve Betland was on fire from the start, scoring 10 of his team's 16 first half points.
Cespitorians' lead comfortably at half-time but the Misfits were far too good a team to stay down and began to claw their way back into the game.
The game was a scrappy affair and despite missing key players Misfits pushed the Cespitorians all the way but unfortunately fell short with the game going to the Cespitorians 37-29.
Steve Betland was a standout for the winners, and the return of Troy Howe has been pivotal.
For the Misfits Grant King was solid and was well supported by Aaron Lee and Shannon Crowley.
The final game saw the competition leading Flint Tropics vs Three's Company.
Flint Tropics were red hot to start the game and built a commanding half-time lead 34-15.
The second half however was a different story as the Tropics, having no subs began to fade.
The shots began to fall for Three's company who managed to win the second half and keep the game respectable as the Tropics were victors 58-40.
For the tropics it was all their big men, Matt Mccloud proved a real handful for Three's company, scoring 18 points and anchoring the defence.
Jonno Morrell had his highest scoring game of the year scoring 14 points whilst Damo Price had a great all- round game showing the tenacity he is known for.
Things get much harder for the tropics in the next few weeks as they face the Cespitorians and Misfits in back to back games.
For Three's company Jourdain Girot-Serplet found his range with 15 points whilst Henry Hodges and Sebastian Markwort were solid.
Week 9 will be the last round before a two-week hiatus coinciding with the school holidays.
We look forward to seeing all players back on the basketball courts after a well-earned break.
