The band stopped rehearsing together earlier this year after the NSW government announced that group playing of wind instruments was temporarily not allowed.
Conductor James Whalan said they wanted to get back into the swing of things after the government relaxed the rules around the group playing of wind instruments.
The Forbes Town and District Band had their first rehearsal on Monday, October 12 and will continue their weekly rehearsals every Monday evening.
While they haven't lost any of their skills in playing instruments, Mr Whalan said they are just getting back into the swing of playing together.
Mr Whalan said getting to play together is wonderful and getting into the dynamic of playing as a band.
"Playing together is a different thing than playing solo," he said.
While they currently have no concerts on their calendar at this stage, Mr Whalan said they are currently in talks with Forbes Shire Council to host their annual Carols by Candlelight.
Mr Whalan said they are also looking at playing at other Christmas carols that may come up during the holiday period.
The band will be practising every Monday night at the band hall on Rankin Street, with juniors practising between 6pm and 7pm and the Town Band practising between 7pm and 9pm.
Mr Whalan said they are always looking for new members to join the band provided they are already playing an instrument.
