The decision was made by councillors at their November meeting last Thursday, after staff compiled community feedback.
Council staff set up online voting on names for the subdivision, as well as up pop up consultation stations in the central business district and by Lake Forbes.
Golden Fields Estate received 33 votes, Blackridge Estate 24 votes and Sunset Estate and Wiradjuri Estate eight votes each.
Some of the other suggestions for the Estate were The Fields, Goldenwest, Galing (the Wiradjuri word for water), New Anglesey Boden, and Jemalong.
Councillors decided to merge the top two names to "Goldridge", recognising Forbes' gold mining history and local agricultural highlights, the report says.
Only one councillor spoke against the suggested name: Cr Jenny Webb said many of the suggested names referenced the region's rich agricultural industry and she felt "Golden Fields" was better.
"(The list of suggestions has) the Fields Estate, the Broadacre Estate, the Golden West Estate or the Harvest Estate or the Wheat Farmers Estate," she said. "All of them are trying to tell us they want something to do with our golden fields."
But Deputy Mayor Chris Roylance said the name had been the topic of discussion for some time now, and Goldridge was a "good, solid name".
STEP BACK IN TIME: What's in a name? Plenty!
It's proposed the streets within the subdivision will be named for varieties of grains.
The estate has eight planned streets, four boulevards and two lanes, and names for those have been shortlisted after asking the public to vote.
"Council staff consulted with Tom Dwyer to produce an extensive list of grain varieties used in the area, including wheat, barley, oats, canola, chickpeas and faba beans," the report says.
"The list was cross-referenced against the Geographical naming board for duplicates of policy breaches."
The shortlist of street names is: Olympic, Condor, Janz, Rosella, Whistler, Vulcan, Festival, Hartog, Wedgetail, Insignia, Sunvale and Teal.
The four boulevards will be named from Federation, Hindmarsh, Livingston, Franklin, Grimmet and Clipper; and the laneways Bannister, Durack, Mortlock and Avon.
The development is to be considered by the State Government's Joint Regional Planning Panel.
