Forbes Shire Council staff worked through some hot conditions over the past week to get the street ready to open to traffic again.
In coming days, they will be marking out 24 parking spaces.
"The parking however will be nose-in and it will take time for residents to re-adjust to the change and Council asks everyone to be patient while everyone becomes familiar with the change," a statement from Forbes Shire Council said.
"New line markings will go into place, in the coming days."
Crossings are marked at either end of the streets with red pavers to identify the crossing area.
In January after the Christmas shopping rush, the street will have coloured areas applied and pavement stamping as part of the overall design.
Councillors at their November meeting heard their had been a slight delay in getting those "finishing touches" applied, but the street would be open to traffic for the Christmas shopping period.
These works are partly funded by the NSW Government under the Stronger Country Communities program.
