One of the keenest players from Parkes, Michael Lynch, enjoyed his outing to win with 27 points from Forbes player Kim Herbert runner-up scoring 26 points, but only after a count-back from Parkes member 'Magpie' Mick Bond.
All was not lost for the Forbes contingent with Tony Cogswell claiming the first of the Encouragement Awards after posting a score he is sure to improve on.
In the Mick Miller shield team trophy Parkes has hit the early lead winning with their best six individual scores from 24 starters posting 149 points to Forbes (13 players) 134 points.
That is sure to change on Thursday with 'twin towns' 12 holes here in Forbes with a shot gun start at 10am.

Last Tuesday organiser Geoff Drane welcomed a young 60-year-old Mick Prior to the 12 hole social competition which attracted 18 players for its first outing in 2021.
Golfers president Ted Morgan showed he is in for a big year scoring 28 points to be best from the ever consistent Garry Pymont one shot back.
Everyone is welcome to Tuesday golf with players gathering from 9am for a morning walk chasing the little white ball in the best time of the day.
