Local actor and a major performer in the mock crash demonstration, Krystle-Lee McMurray, has been named Forbes' Young Citizen of the Year.

Krystle-Lee said she would like to thank everyone for the award and is very proud to have been recognised for doing the mock crash program.
"The mock crash is a very important thing to our shire councils because it is, definitely as a teenager we see it way too often, especially the families that it affects," Krystle-Lee said.
"I think with the mock crash is something very wonderful that we have because it just shows that we need to respect ourselves and the choices that we make together and for our community."
Krystle-Lee has dedicated the last six years of her life to volunteering, entertaining and representing the community of Forbes at events with her talent.
Krystle-Lee has contributed to the education of local youth and the importance of driver safety through the Mock Crash Demonstration "Not a Statistic Program".
This Mock Crash program has been shown to students in Forbes, Parkes and Lachlan Shires.
Krystle-Lee said this award stands for something bigger - it stands for our community coming together to recognise the dangers that we need to address including drink driving.
"I love acting and I think if I can use that to some way for good, that's what I am going to do," she said.
Krystle-Lee said this award represents a group effort from all the team that helped put the mock crash together.
"I'm happy that this is a recognition of all the work that, not just myself, but a a lot of team people like SES and police and ambulance and the behind the scenes that go into the mock crash," Krystle-Lee said.
"It's not just me, but it is also them.

"I originally was going into the Mock Crash for experience for acting purposes but then as I realised there is an actual need for this because people are dying on our roads especially friends and close relatives," Krystle-Lee said.
"It was such a big importance to me to continue it and keep going with it and try and get my friends involved with it who loved acting and other people to come see it."
