Forbes Show will be on September 10 and 11 this year, and after a year where the show industry suffered terribly from Covid-19 shut-downs, entertainment and attractions for the 2021 event are shaping up as very exciting.
There's an information night for stewards coming up on April 16, and Felicity is keen to get the word out.
We particularly need stewards for:
- Photography,
- Handicraft,
- Bread,
- Preserves,
- Hacks (horse ring), and
- Showgirl.
If you have an interest in being involved in these areas you're encouraged to contact Forbes Show on 6852 1311 or attend the meeting at the Ben Hall Shears at 7pm on April 16.
The P A and H Association had its AGM in February, with Doug Nadin returned as president and the executive including Janeen Coles, Susan Earl, Peter Maher and Rebecca Saleh.
And while there wasn't a show in 2020, the team has actually had a busy time with plenty going on at the local showgrounds.
New events including showjumping and market days have been well received, and the show society has been the recipient of several grants to improve the facilities on the ground.
The Ben Hall Shears has been enclosed, the poultry pavilion has a new roof and wiring, and a new kitchen is being installed for the ladies auxiliary.
Most recently, they received funding to install new split system air conditioners in several spaces.
They're now looking forward to planning this year's show, although they do encourage people to note that there will need to be changes to the ticketing system to comply with Covid-19 regulations this year.
It's anticipated that ticket sales will be online, and tickets will need to be purchased before you arrive at the gates this year.
Traditional favourites of our annual Show such as the Friday night fireworks are in planning, with scope for new events such as a demolition derby a possibility as well.
