Health services and freight networks are two of Cr Jenny Webb's priorities as she confirms she'll put her hand up at the December local government elections.
Cr Webb, who has served as our deputy mayor, says it's been exciting to see some big projects come to fruition with successful funding applications in the past five years.
The beautiful of the Lake Forbes surrounds and central business district has been
"It was great to see Saleyards Expansion, Camp St and Seven Sisters Bridges built with further funding announced for Warroo and Iron Bridge," she said.
"With further expansion at Bunnings Precinct and Central West Industrial Park, the development of "Goldridge" Estate but a few, Forbes Council has been proactive not only to beautify our town to enjoy but bring businesses, job creation, and residential growth to Forbes."
One of the exciting projects in the works right now is the Recreational and Open Space Strategy.
"I'm excited to see what develops. I would really love to see an upgrade of Spooners Oval with new ancillary facilities in the coming term!"
Now Cr Webb is keen to continue to advocate on health and freight issues.
"As a front-line health care worker, I do have firsthand insight into health issues," she said.
"I have actively campaigned, lobbied state and federal ministers, and will continue to fight to improve the health needs of our community such as maintaining maternity services, a new operating theatre, better regional patient transport, more mental health awareness programs and incentives to attract health professionals.
"I would like to continue as a member of the Lachlan Health Council, and Lachlan Health Collaborative Care Group as I do add valuable input.
"I will continue to advocate for improved freight routes, better roads, and renewed bridges to support the agribusiness and industries within our shire.
"Council needs to plan so most roads and bridges can take B-doubles, road trains and oversized machinery, which is currently restricting access to key markets and processing facilities."
Cr Webb would urge others to look seriously at local government as the next elections approach.
"Local government can be rewarding, but it really comes down to how much you want to serve the community interests," she said.
"Being on council is a team effort, working alongside councillors, staff members and the community.
"I do hope next election Forbes residents gets behind a diversity of councillors in age, gender and interests."
