Ms Scott spent many hours at the pool where she was a swimming instructor for a learn to swim program.
Newly elected Cabonne mayor Ian Gosper said Stephanie Scott’s death touched not only the Canowindra community but the people of Cabonne shire and beyond.
“Nothing will ease the pain for Stephanie and her fiance Aaron’s families.
“But it will be fitting to have a memorial to her at a place where she had a great attachment to Canowindra,” Mr Gosper said.
He said Ms Scott’s parents and fiance will be consulted to agree on the wording of the plaque on a memorial chair which will bear the young woman’s name.
Ms Scott disappeared on Easter Sunday less than a week before she was due to marry her childhood sweetheart Aaron Leeson-Woolley.
A 24-year-old cleaner who worked at the school in Leeton where she taught was subsequently charged with her murder.
That man and his twin brother, who is facing charges of being an accessory to the crime are due to face court next week.
The reception centre at Eugowra, which was to host the wedding reception for Ms Scott and finance Aaron, instead became the venue for an emotional memorial service.
