Forbes cricket will open the 2018-19 representative season with a match against Wellington in the SCG Plate competition on Sunday.

In recent seasons Forbes has proven too good for Wellington in the Plate competition but the side are not taking this Sunday’s opponents lightly.
The match will be played at either Grinsted Oval or South Circle, depending on pitch conditions, from 10am.
Nine teams have nominated for this year’s knockout competition with Blue Mountains returning to defend their title.
They are joined in the competition by Forbes, Cobar, Dubbo, Gulgong, Mudgee, Narromine, Nyngan and Wellington.
The first round was played on November 4 between Cobar and Nyngan with all other teams enjoying a bye.
Other round 2 matches on Sunday will see Narromine take on Cobar, Dubbo take on Mudgee and Blue Mountains hosting Gulgong.
The four round 2 winners will progress to the Semi Finals on December 2 with the Final scheduled for December 16.
A win on Sunday would see a possible representative clash.
If Forbes is successful and progresses to the Plate semi finals the match falls on the same day as the Forbes side’s scheduled Grinsted Cup challenge against Grinsted Cup holders Cowra.
Forbes will be looking for revenge if the Cowra Grinsted Cup clash eventuates as the side was thumped by eight wickets when the two sides met in the final challenge of last season.
A brilliant bowling performance, led by Cowra spinner Josh Carmody, taking 3-29, restricted Forbes to just 75 all out in the 45th over.
The side for this Sunday’s Plate match wasn’t finalised at the time of going to print.
LOCAL COMPETITION
In the local competition, Postie had a win over VC Reid and Trundle was dominant in a high-scoring game against the Golfie Tigers.
Coming up this Saturday, VC Reid and Trundle will meet at Grinsted Oval, Postie and Home Timber and Hardware will play on South Circle.
