Five locals are gearing up to take part in a three day, 410km bike ride to raise funds and awareness for the Active Farmers charity.

Nick Turner, Steven Zieltjes, Stuart Thomas, Warren Lander and Nick Field will be jumping on their bicycles for the charity ride from September 15-17 which will see them go through Forbes, Young, Temora and Mangoplah.
Stuart Thomas said he decided to join the charity bike ride because it contributes to staying healthy, both physically and mentally.
Active Farmers is a rural fitness program designed especially for small rural communities with limited access to fitness expertise and equipment. Active Farmers provides motivational, challenging and fun training sessions to help promote great physical and mental health and brings farmers and community members together.
Steve Zieltjes said he joined the bike ride because he believes it to be a good cause and a lot of farmers are battling right now and that getting out to do some excercise is a good thing.
Mr Thomas said small communities like Forbes and the surrounds are farming communities and need to pull together in hard times like now.
Haylee Redfern, from Active Farmers, said the programs are group fitness for everyone and anyone can participate.
Along with the bike ride, Mr Thomas and the rest of the local riders will be hosting a raffle to raise money for the charity event.
