Forbes High students have raised $1000 in a day to direct to a local cause supporting people impacted by the current flood crisis.

The floodwater was still rising in Forbes - and across surrounding farms - when the high school's Year 11 students decided to do something to support the community.
It quickly became a whole-day drive and a massive effort by the group, and well supported by the entire school community.
Students and their families baked up a storm of biscuits and sweet treats to sell in the morning break, and then came into school early and fired up the barbecue to cook bacon and egg rolls.
They capped the day with a sausage sizzle lunch, a huge effort but a successful one.
School principal Kathleen Maksymczuk said the unity in the group to make it all happen was "really, really impressive".
"It was a really strong representation of the school culture and pride in their year group," she said.
