Life member honoured at Friends of Forbes Hospital AGM

The Friends of Forbes Hospital Auxiliary members held their AGM recently. The meeting was chaired by Kim Jones regional rep. Elected to committee were: President Robyn Kenny, vice president Norm Haley, vice president Lloyd Gerdes, secretary Robyn Kenny, assistant secretary Ann Williams, treasurer Gloria Haley. At the conclusion of the meeting Kim Jones presented Gloria Haley with a Branch Life Member Badge, for over 20 years volunteering service to the Friends of Forbes Hospital Auxiliary. All members congratulated Gloria on such an outstanding achievement to the UHA branch of Friends of Forbes Hospital Auxiliary. The monthly meeting was held immediately after the AGM. Four new members were welcomed to the Friends of Forbes Hospital Auxiliary. Fundraising will continue for branch members, with the auxiliary attending both Forbes Rotary Ipomea markets (second Saturday) and Forbes Farmer’s markets (fourth Saturday) each month. The Bernardi’s Building Better Communities token fundraiser allows all the Forbes community to support the auxiliary by customers placing their tokens in the Friends of Forbes Hospital Auxiliary tub near the exit doors. Customers are reminded to ask at the checkout for voting tokens. There is a poster in FSC “What’s On” to remind the community to support the auxiliary. The auxiliary is currently fundraising for the purchase of a Sorrento Chair and tray for the ward, which will cost $8,670, and was the next item on the hospital’s “wish list”. The committee is looking into organising a fundraising concert later in the year, with more information to come to the next meeting. The auxiliary is also looking at ways to label all the items that have been purchased for Forbes Hospital, so the community is aware of what is bought by the auxiliary. More information to come to the October meeting. Members were very excited to be told the ice machine for the wards has arrived. This was an item on the last “wish list”, and the auxiliary can now pay for the item, costing $8,214 with the past fundraising. The out-of-bed call point costing $3,350 is still to arrive. The venue and times for the December meeting will be finalised at the October meeting. This will be the Christmas meeting and a decision on moving the meeting to a Friday lunch will be discussed and finalised. The next meeting of the Friends of Forbes Hospital Auxiliary will be on Thursday October 8 at Meeting Room 3 at Forbes Hospital at 6pm. All welcome and it would be exciting to see some more new members join and build the auxiliary.
