Our mayor was presented with a prestigious Minister's Awards for Women in Local Government in the Elected Representative Category for Regional/Rural category.
Mayor Miller has served on the Forbes Shire Council since 1995.
Travelling showmen off road: It should have been showtime in the central west, but COVID-19 had seen the cancellation of our rural shows and those working in the show industry were still parked up to wait out the pandemic.
Forbes local and regional Showman's Guild of Australasia representative Steve Karaitiana spoke to the Advocate about the particular challenges the industry was facing.
Funds flow to community: The now disbanded Jemalong Aged People's Association distributed funds to other community groups. A total $250,000 was put towards stage 2 of the Jemalong Retirement Living village which will include a heated pool for the community centre, $65,000 to the Forbes Heated Pool.
Our Sam's right there with the best: Forbes stock and station agent Sam Smith, Kevin Miller, Whitty, Lennon and Co, is named runner up in the NSW Young Auctioneer competition - hosted at Dubbo saleyards after the cancellation of the 2020 Sydney Royal Show.
End of an era: it's announced that a 94-year presence of Marist Brothers in Forbes will come to an end with 2020.
Marist Bros Vice Provincial Darren Burge visited Forbes to explain the move was "the reality of a historical moment", due to diminishing numbers.
Principal Stephen Dwyer said our final two service Marists, Brother Robert and Brother Bernard, were an "active, humble and gentle influence in our community".
Six-month plan: Catholic Healthcare says it has made changes including recruiting additional staff since sanctions were imposed as a result of an audit by the Aged Care Quality and Standards Commission.
A statement from Catholic Healthcare said the organisation was "committed to ensuring Jemalong delivers the highest quality care every day and will re-double our efforts to achieve this".
Miller, Roylance lead the way: Local government elections are postponed 12 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and our councillors hold internal elections for the roles of mayor and deputy.
Marathon effort: Nedd Brockmann completes 50 marathons in 50 days - and raises more than $85,000 for the Australian Red Cross doing it.
The former Forbes resident and Platypi player said he battled through injury to complete the runs, and pumped out his 50th in two hours 53 minutes.

Driving visitation: New billboards are placed on the State's highways encouraging drivers to visit and stay in "amazing Forbes".
The billboards feature our beautiful lake and ski dam, Indigenous dancers and a horse rider on the stock route at the amazing sculpture.
Flood proofing: Early design work and environmental investigations are now underway on a project to flood proof the Newell Highway between West Wyalong and Forbes.
Transport for NSW A/Director West Alistair Lunn said preliminary work for the $200 million flood proofing project will investigate the section of the Newell Highway from Compton Road in West Wyalong to Hereford Street in Forbes.
